Terms of Service — RateMyChurch

1. About This Service

RateMyChurch is a church discovery and review platform. By accessing or using RateMyChurch (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. Authentication is provided through Supabase. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.

3. Reviews, Requests, and Your Content

You may submit ratings, review text, and church change requests. You are responsible for your submissions and must not post unlawful, deceptive, abusive, threatening, or defamatory content. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, display, and moderate that content to operate the Service.

4. Moderation and Enforcement

Reviews and change requests may be reviewed by moderators and automated systems. In the current product, text reviews can be screened by an AI moderation service before final publication decisions. We may approve, reject, edit for policy compliance, limit visibility, or remove content at our discretion to keep the platform safe and useful.

5. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You can request account deletion from your account page. Today, deletion removes your Supabase Auth user and marks your application account as DELETED. To preserve moderation history and platform integrity, existing reviews, change requests, and operational records may remain in our database after account deletion unless we are legally required to remove them.

6. Acceptable Use Restrictions

You agree not to abuse the Service, interfere with security features, scrape data in violation of applicable law, impersonate others, or attempt to bypass moderation or access controls.

7. Disclaimers and Liability Limits

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, absolute security, or the accuracy of user-submitted content. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
